Guthrie Returns To Action

A positive cameo appearance by U's forward

25 September 2017

Kurtis Guthrie made a long awaited return to action on Monday night, as the U's drew 0-0 with Millwall.

The U's forward, out since February with an ankle injury, came off the bench midway through the second half against the Lions.

And, as he felt his way back into competitive football, he put in a lively 27 minutes as his comeback continues.

The match came to life in the second half, with only Louis Dunne's fierce shot proving problematic to Ryan Sandford in the Millwall goal.

But the U's began to gain the upper hand after half time, with a higher tempo to the match.

Eoin McKeown crashed a shot against the bar, Guthrie tested the keeper with a low header and the returning U's front man also had a shot well blocked at the death.

It was another clean sheet for the U's U23s, who have lost just the once this season as they continue to progress despite being without a number of players who are currently out on loan.
