Young U's get match action

5 September 2017

Several of the U's younger players were in match action at the weekend with their loan clubs.

Dillon Barnes was once again between the sticks for Welling, as they travelled to Bath City in their latest Conference South fixture.

Welling led in the weekend match, but were pegged back in the second half to bring a point back from Somerset.

Elsewhere in the Conference South, Louis Dunne started for Concord Rangers, but the Beachboys were beaten 2-0 by Hungerford Town.

There was FA Cup action for George Keys and Ryan Clampin in their work experience stint with Maldon & Tiptree, and it was a dramatic afternoon as they drew 3-3 with Hayes & Yeading, with a replay required to decide who progresses through to the next round.

There was no game for Denny Johnstone this weekend, with the Scottish Premier League on a break whilst international action was taking place.
