Kurtis Guthrie is set to return to action on Monday evening as the U's U23s take on Millwall.
Kurtis has been sidelined since sustaining an ankle injury in the game against Hartlepool in February.
But he will play some part in Monday's fixture.
Speaking in Saturday's match programme, physio Tony Flynn said: "Because of the time he has been out of action, we will have to be careful with how much time he has in the game.
"It might only be twenty minutes or half an hour – we will keep a close eye on him throughout and see how he is.
"Should there be no reaction to the injury, we will increase his playing time game by game, until we think he is ready for first team action.
"He is keen to be back as soon as possible but we have to be wary of rushing him through this final stage of his rehab and make sure no further damage is done."
The U's bounced back from their first defeat of the season against Nottingham Forest with an impressive win against Huddersfield and will look to build on that on Monday.
Kick-off is at 7pm at WHCS.
