U's Beaten By Bolton

One goal separates the two sides

17 April 2018

Colchester United U23s fell to defeat in their latest away day, with Bolton taking the points in a match held at the Lancashire FA.

The U's had to contend with some Wanderers pressure in the opening stages of the game and the home side's efforts were rewarded thirteen minutes into the game.

Hall chased the ball down and he was able to charge down Barnes' clearance, with the ball rebounding into the empty net.

Bolton had a flurry of other chances but the U's defence held firm and they almost drew level five minutes before half time when the ball was sent into the box, only to be denied by a last ditch clearance.

The U's had more attacking thrust in the second half and had another chance five minutes after the restart when Will Wright blazed off target from a decent position.

Five minutes after that opportunity, a good tackle denied Decarrey Sheriff as he was about to pull the trigger before Callum Jones also saw an effort just off target.

Navarro almost doubled Bolton's lead with twenty minutes to go, but he lifted the ball over Barnes but off target too.

However, Hall's early chance was enough to separate the two sides.
