Colchester United defender Cameron James has headed out on loan, joining Braintree Town until January.
The 20-year-old follows in the footsteps of Diaz Wright, who enjoyed a successful stint with the Iron and guided them to promotion with the decisive penalty in the Conference South play-off final.
Cameron spent time with Chelmsford last season and will now get first team football at Braintree under his belt.
"Cameron is another player who needs to get some first team action," Director of Football Tony Humes said.
"He has been around the first team previously but needs that competitive football to push him close to our squad again.
"We wish him well at Braintree and hopefully he will have as big an impact as Diaz did last season."
