Colchester United U23s beat their Essex rivals Southend United in their latest pre-season friendly, as preparations for the opening game of their season continue apace.
Following a 4-2 weekend defeat at Needham Market, the U's U23s bounced back with a win on Tuesday, with Noah Chilvers' effort the only goal of the game in a closely contested encounter at Florence Park.
There's just one more friendly for Kevin Horlock's side before the season gets underway, with a game against Wolves at Florence Park next Monday.
Then it's an away day at Hull to get things underway in 2018/19!
