Colchester United take on Crawley Town in their first game of the New Year
John McGreal and the U's sit in fourth place in Sky Bet League Two going into 2019, level on forty two points with third placed Mansfield Town.
The Stags and the U's are only two points behind MK Dons, who occupy second spot in the table, and a further six behind table topping Lincoln City.
Earlier in the season, here at the JobServe Community Stadium, goals from Sammie Szmodics, Frank Nouble and Luke Norris gave the U's a 3-1 win.
A win in East Sussex for McGreal's side will give them a first double of the season, after Morecambe avoided two defeats against the U's by drawing 0-0 on Saturday.
Whilst that stalemate was being played out here in north Essex, Crawley came away from Newport County with a point after their own 0-0 draw.
That halted a run of four sucessive defeats for the Red Devils, who have gained twenty seven points from their twenty four league fixtures to date.
