Kensdale Pens First Pro Contract

Young defender rewarded for progress

24 December 2018

Ollie Kensdale has signed his first professional contract at the U's

The young defender has been involved with the first team throughout the first half of the season, and became the first player born in this millenium to make his senior debut for the U's.

He started the Cambridge United game in the Checkatrade Trophy in mid November, and has made two more appearances since.

Another starting place came in the League Two clash against Exeter City here at the JobServe Community Stadium, and he also came on as a second half substitute at Carlisle recently.

Director of Football Tony Humes told the official website on Monday morning: "Ollie fully deserves this contract, his progression has been excellent over the past year or so."

"He's following the path of others that have come all the way through the age groups in the Academy, and had become very comfortable in the U23s environment.

"That's when he went out to play men's football at Maldon & Tiptree and that helped him develop even further."

"He's proved that he has got the potential to have a very good career in football, but he's also level-headed enough to know there's even more hard work to come from now on."

Ollie has signed a contract until the summer of 2021, subject to approval from the relevant authorities.
