Colchester United host Morecambe in the next Sky Bet League Two fixture.
As the festive games continue, John McGreal and the U's take on Jim Bentley's side at the JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday.
It will be the second home fixture for the U's in quick succession, coming three days after the 2-1 defeat against Stevenage on Boxing Day.
Although the U's didn't collect any points, McGreal felt they were the better side and were unlucky to came away empty-handed.
"It was a massively disappointing result obviously, but I can't be too critical of the performance in general.
"We had most of the ball, most of the chances but it didn't go our way in the Stevenage penalty area.
"All we can do is dust ourselves down, try and replicate all the good aspects and make sure we are more ruthless with those scoring chances."
There has been no shortage of goals in recent matches involving the visitors, with 3-1 defeats at Lincoln and Tranmere sandwiching a 3-0 victory over their fellow strugglers Cambridge United.
Morecambe come into this game in north Essex in twentieth place in the table, having collected twenty five points from their twenty four fixtures so far.
Boss Bentley will be hoping for a swift recovery for Aaron Wildig, who required a scan on a knee injury picked up in the closing minute's of the Boxing day clash at Tranmere.
