U15s Grab Win Against Arsenal

Qualification hopes remain alive

9 February 2018

Colchester United's U15s came from behind to record an impressive win at Hale End, the home of Arsenal FC's Academy in their latest Premier League Floodlit Cup game.

With the home side taking the lead midway through the first half the young U’s kept their Arsenal counterparts at bay with a some resolute defending and reached the halfway stage a goal down.

Gaining more confidence as the game went on, the equaliser eventually came as Tom Stagg raced through to slot home.

With Arsenal still threatening, the U15s had to wait for their chances via the counter attack, and eventually Sid Morgan pounced on a mistake and finished calmly into the corner with only ten minutes left on the clock.

A fairly comfortable end to the game saw the U15s run out 2-1 winners and they left with all three points secured.

With that result in the bag the young U’s can qualify for the knockout round by beating Leicester City away on March 1st, providing Arsenal fail to win away at Norwich a week earlier.
