U18s Face MK Dons In Cup Clash

Big match in Fourth Round at WHCS

16 January 2018

Colchester United's young players are in FA Youth Cup action on Tuesday evening, as they take on MK Dons.

The U's have progressed past Cheshunt, Bishop's Stortford and Crewe Alexandra to set up Tuesday night's clash and take on a Dons side full of confidence after they recently secured their league title.

U's U18s Lead Coach Chris Llewellyn said in his notes for Tuesday's game: "This is the fourth round in succession in which our players have been given the opportunity to play at the stadium in this competition and the players have definitely become more accustomed to playing in the stadium environment in that time.

"These matches give the boys additional exposure in a match that has a bit of an edge to it and tests them in situations where there are consequences of winning or losing the game."

The draw for the next stage has already been made and the winners know that they will host Charlton or Reading, who also play on Tuesday night.

Chris added: "Both teams know that they have the carrot of a home draw in Round Five if they can win tonight.

"It has been a few years since a Colchester side has made significant progress in this competition, so the chance to make headlines is something that has certainly been driving our boys on."

The game kicks off at 7.00pm at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and ticket prices are as follows:-

Adult: £7
Seniors/U18s/Forces: £5
U14s: £3
U11s: £1
