Junior and Ryan set to come on board

3 January 2018

Colchester United have made a double signing at the start of the January transfer window, with the arrivals of Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe and Ryan Gondoh from high-flying Bostik North side Maldon & Tiptree.

23-year-old Junior (pictured right, above) has enjoyed a remarkable season with the Jammers, after returning from eighteen months in Cyprus in the summer.

The former Enfield Town and Lewes forward has scored an hugely impressive 34 goals in 34 games this season and the U's have moved to snap him up to join the ranks at Florence Park.

His tally places him top of the Bostik League (Premier, North and South) scoring charts and as one of the leading non-league marksmen of the season so far.

Junior is joined by his Maldon teammate Ryan (pictured left, above), who has also enjoyed a positive season with Kevin Horlock's side, who currently sit third in the league.

After impressing as a youngster at non-league level, 20-year-old Ryan joined Barnet as a second year youth team player before signing a professional contract in June 2015.

He played for the Bees in the Johnstone's Paints Trophy game against Yeovil Town, before leaving the London club at the end of that season.

After playing for Metropolitan Police, Kingstonian and Carshalton, Ryan was one of a number of players to arrive at Maldon & Tiptree in the summer of 2017.

Playing down the left, predominantly on the wing but also at left back, he has scored 12 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions.

Both players have signed an eighteen month contract with the U's and their moves will be completed subject to paperwork clearance.
