Attention Turns To Checkatrade

Local derby as Southend come to town

9 October 2018

Colchester United take on Southend in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night

The game sees the U's host their Essex neighbours, with both sides looking for a positive result in the second match of the group stage.

A U's win would put them alongside Southend on three points with one game remaining, while a victory for the visitors will make them favourites for progression out of the group with six points from their two matches.

In the U's first game in the competition, Head Coach John McGreal made a handful of changes from his previous league line-up, and he hasn't discounted tinkering with his starting eleven for this fixture.

"We want to win the game, especially with it being a local derby, and we'll put out a team that we think can get that win we need.

"I'm sure Chris will be looking across his Southend squad for his selection and we'll be doing the same because there are players that deserve to be in the team who maybe haven't been in for previous games."

Tickets are priced as follows:-
Adults: £12
Concessions (Seniors, Forces, Disabled): £10
U18s: £6
U11s: £2

U's fans will have the West Stand, with visiting supporters in the JobServe Stand.
