Boss aiming for back to back wins

19 October 2018

Colchester United head coach John McGreal has challenged his free scoring U's to record back to back wins when they travel to Morecambe this weekend.

Whilst the U's have spent virtually the whole season in the play-off spots, they are still to win consecutive games in the league with impressive home results usually backed up by a solid point on the road.

They now face two away games in a row, with trips to Morecambe and Grimsby coming up ahead of next week's game against league leaders Lincoln City.

Speaking ahead of the game, John said: "It would be nice to get back to back wins. We did it last week with Southend and Crawley, but now we want to do it in the league.

"It will be tough at Morecambe, though, and they've been in good form in the last few weeks and Jim's got them going at the moment.

"All of our matches with Morecambe have been tight games and we're expecting that it'll be the same this time to.

"But we'll be going up there to get a result on Saturday."

The U's manager was also keen to praise the supporters, following a joint effort on and off the pitch last Saturday in the win over Crawley Town.

And as the fans prepare to leave early on Saturday morning to get up to Lancashire, John added: "The fans have been fantastic this season and I want to give them real credit for their part last Saturday.

"They will also be covering some miles over the next week and we're grateful for that support, as it's a real commitment from the supporters."
