Colchester United Football in the Community's Senior U's project has been shortlisted for funding from the Aviva Community Fund.
The Aviva Community Fund will finance over 500 projects across four different fund levels and three categories, giving money to communities across the UK.
If the Senior U's project gets enough votes, then it will be in with a chance of securing much needed funds!
The project consists of two sessions a month, on the second and fourth Thursday between 10.00am and 12.00pm.
The first session is a Cafe held at Shrub End Community Sports Centre which involves group activities, guest speakers and light physical activity and games.
The concept and makeup of the sessions is created with participant information and feedback from our group to ensure that the community team are addressing the needs of those directly attending whilst enabling them to stay flexible with activities they have on offer.
Their second monthly meeting is a trip which has again been suggested by the group participants. The trips are generally are no further than 45 minutes away and previously they have put on shopping trips, pottery painting and relaxing walk locations for the group.
