U18s Ready For Cup Action

Bailey expecting tough test against Stevenage

30 October 2018

Colchester United's U18s venture into FA Youth Cup action on Tuesday night, looking to replicate their successes in last year's competition.

The U's youngsters reached the quarter finals of the 2017/18 competition and head to Stevenage looking to start a similar run this time around.

U18s assistant coach Liam Bailey said: "The lads have been in the last couple of days to do all of the preparation required and we're all looking forward to tonight’s game.

"We have a strong squad available, including the lads who have been out on loan recently."

The U's take on a Stevenage side who have enjoyed a good season so far, starting off with a long unbeaten run before finally being beaten last week.

"They are a strong team, full of second years, so we know it will be a good test for us," Liam said.

"This is another good opportunity to impress in front of the first team manager, the Academy manager and Director of Football and is as close to a first team game as they'll get at this stage of their development.

"Out of the squad, there are only two that didn’t play a part in last year's great run, so we'll be asking them to take that experience and get through tonight's test."

Squad: Coulter, Collins, Anderson, Fouche, Cracknell, Kazeem, Cornish, Chilvers, Hasanally, Hutchinson, Miller, Sims, Stagg, Kennedy, Sayer, Akolbire
