Colchester United Football in the Community spent Monday and Tuesday this week at St George's Park as part of the EFL Trust Annual National Conference.

The conference sees all club community organisations come together to share network updates, national organisation information and best practice sharing from clubs.

This year’s conference marked the 10 year anniversary of the EFL Trust and included guest speakers from Mind, Park Run and The EFL.

Colchester United’s Football in the Community Team were also chosen facilitate a workshop based on business development based on their advances within the last 5 years.

The workshop which was delivered by Corin Haines (Head of Community), Tom Tayler (Community Development Manager) and Mark Harris (Community Development Officer) looked into Managing Risk, Managing Growth and also Strategic Planning.

Head of Community Corin Haines described the workshop by commenting: “It was fantastic to be asked by the EFL Trust to present at such an important event for CCOs and we felt that, having recent launched our Unite Our Communities strategy, we were in a good position to do so.

"There is a wealth of fantastic programmes and projects taking place across our community network from clubs all over the country and we were proud to be able to pass on some of our findings in our growth since launch in 2013.

"Events such as the EFL Trust National Conference are a great platform to be able to celebrate the successes we have as community organisations helping to improve lives within our local communities supported by our Football Clubs”
