Colchester United midfielder Tom Lapslie returned to match action on Thursday evening, in an in-house game.
Tom, who underwent a knee operation just under four weeks ago, played an hour in the match between the U's U23s and Maldon & Tiptree.
The battling midfielder will now be hoping to push for a first team return with a busy fixture period coming up for John McGreal's men.
