Colchester United U18s made the long trip to Yorkshire to take on Barnsley on Saturday and they recorded their first point of the season - and it was to be so close to being three and their opening win of the campaign.
It was a testing first half for them as they were indebted to their keeper Callum Coulter who kept them in the match with several very good saves, although they did go behind during that time.
Gradually their game improved and they got back into the match and equalised with a goal by Sidney Morgan.
With time almost up, the U’s looked to have won it, with a second goal from Hutchinson who scored in a one on one with the keeper.
However straight from the restart kick off, Barnsley went up the other end of the pitch and netted a dramatic equaliser with just seconds remaining in the contest.
It was a good week for the Hutchinson family, as Jake’s brother Issac came on as a substitute for Southend United in their first team game on Tuesday night in their home Checkatrade match with Cambridge United and immediately scored in their 3-1 success.
U's: Coulter, Akolbire, Michaels, Cracknell, Sayer, Kennedy, Maughn, Cornish, Morgan, Mudd, Hutchinson
Subs: Gray, Wind, Miller
The U's are next in action with a game at Coventry City on Saturday.
