Crewe Win Final Fixture

15 April 2019

Colchester United's U23s season came to a close with a 2-0 defeat on Monday night, as Crewe edged a close match at the JobServe Community Stadium.

The match saw both teams trade chances in the first half, with the U's featuring three triallsits in their starting eleven.

Regan Griffiths and Lewis Reilly both forced good saves out of Ethan Ross in that opening 45 minutes, but the match went into the break all square.

The visitors got their noses in front ten minutes after the restart, when first teamer George Ray rose highest to head home a free kick.

Seven minutes later, it was 2-0, and Reilly made no mistake this time as he slotted past Ross.

The U's had a late chance through Harvey Sayer, but they were defeated in their final outing of 2018/19
