Rallying Call From McGreal

'Keep up the good work' says Head Coach

4 April 2019

Colchester United Head Coach John McGreal wants a big noise at the Oldham game, as the U's push for promotion.

The U's face the Latics on Saturday, and McGreal wants a repeat of last weekend's vocal support.

Speaking ahead of the weekend's fixture at the JobServe Community Stadium, the Head Coach told the official website: "The noise from the away end throughout the game at Cambridge was fantastic, and it went off the scale when we scored and again at the final whistle - I want to hear that again at home on Saturday and for the rest of the season.

"It happens in the top leagues, but how many clubs of our size at this level take about 1,200 fans to away games, it was a great sight to see when we walked out at the Abbey.

"I want them all to make that noise in the next few weeks, and bring a couple of friends each to cheer the boys on."

It wasn't just the usual U's supporters at Cambridge making the noise, the players not involved in the matchday squad joined them in the stand behind the goal.

And McGreal told us that they had a great time.

He said: "It was great that the players wanted to go in there and be a part of it, and it wasn't just Frank Nouble and Harry Pell - we had Todd Miller and Ollie Kensdale in there, a sixteen and an eighteen year old.

"The relationship this group of players has with the fans is fantastic and everyone could see that with the way they all celebrated after the final whistle.

"We want that feeling after the final whistle this Saturday and for the remaining games, and we can only do that with us doing everything we can to get the positive result and the fans coming in thier numbers and making lots of noise."

John McGreal wants a big crowd to cheer the players on - if you haven't got a ticket yet, you can still purchase at Advance Prices by clicking HERE.
