Young Colchester United midfielder Andre Hasanally has been rewarded for his progress so far with his first professional contract.
The 17-year-old enjoyed a positive pre-season with John McGreal's senior side and made his professional debut in the home game against Port Vale at the start of the season.
He has now signed a professional contract to take him through to June 2022.
Director of Football Tony Humes said: "Andre has had the opportunity to progress through the U18s and U23s and quickly into the first team picture at the start of the season.
"He showed quality when he was involved with the senior players and has deserved the opportunity to make his debut and spend further time with the first team in the early weeks of the season.
"He has done more than enough to get his first professional contract and he is a player we are looking to develop further in the next couple of years.
"It is up to him now to ensure he makes that progress and earn a more regular spot in the team."
