U's Flash: Kane Completes Town Move

Defender leaves after five year stay

19 August 2019

Colchester United defender Kane Vincent-Young has completed his move to Ipswich Town, bringing to a close a five year association with the U's.

Kane has made a big impact during his time at the U's, including lifting the Young Player of the Year award in 2017/18.

He now makes the short journey up the A12 to join the Tractor Boys for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking on Monday morning, Director of Football Tony Humes said: "We saw Kane's potential very quickly when he arrived from Tottenham Hotspur.

"He originally got his opportunity in League One and, since then, has improved every aspect of his game and physically he is now a fantastic athlete.

"It's clear to see why teams have been interested and why his performances have caught the eye of so many clubs.

"We are, of course, disappointed to lose him, but we also understand that's what we're about in wanting our Academy players to progress to a higher level.

"We firmly believe that Kane has the potential to go very high in the game with the attributes he possesses, and we wish him well for the future."
