McGreal's men aiming for back to back wins

8 February 2019

Colchester United take on Cheltenham Town on Saturday and boss John McGreal will wait on the fitness of two of his key men ahead of the big match.

Mikael Mandron experienced a tight hamstring in the first half of the game at Northampton last week, whilst Courtney Senior came off in the second half with  sore ankle.

John will assess their availability ahead of the weekend fixture, and will also have Luke Norris moving closer to a return after he resumed training after his recent ankle injury.

The U's currently sit in eighth in the League Two table and John is keen for his side to move back into the play-off spots.

Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday's game, John said: "We had a great performance and result at Northampton but also we have a situation that players are in good form and if they’re not, there are players ready to come in.

“It’s given me a lot of food for thought, to be honest.

“Not that we haven’t had headaches before but after winning the game in the way we did at Northampton, I don’t think we’ve had that this season.

“The subs have come on and really affected the game as well, which was really pleasing.

“For them to pick up the heat of the game really quickly and perform the way they did was really encouraging.

“It’s brilliant for a manager when new signings make an immediate impact.

“It gives me something to think about again coming up to this weekend because those boys want to come and play and if you look at it, certain individuals certainly raised their game knowing that.”

Tickets for the game are available at the Advance Rate until 2.00pm online on the day of the game for Saturday's match, so come and join us!
