U23s Come From Behind To Beat Cardiff

Dunne and Hyde on target

21 January 2019

Colchester United U23s picked up all three points on Monday afternoon, as they defeated Cardiff City on a chilly afternoon at Florence Park.

The visitors had taken the lead just after the half hour mark, when Ryan Pryce slotted home from close range.

The U's had chances to level before the break, though, as visiting goalkeeper Warren Burwood denied first Diaz Wright and then Callum Jones from the resulting corner.

The U's did get level within minutes of the restart in the second half, though.

It was Louis Dunne who squared things up, converting from close range.

The home side went on to put in a strong second half performance, with Todd Miller firing over the bar on 64 minutes.

However, the U's went ahead nine minutes later when Tyrique Hyde's header struck a defender on its path to goal and found its way into the back of the net.

Will Warnock fired over as the visitors sought an equaliser and Coulter pulled off a good late save to preserve the lead and give the U's the win.
