Colchester United have signed versatile Newcastle United forward Callum Roberts on loan, as the U's once again bolster their squad ahead of the run in to the end of the season.
The deal was completed on Thursday morning, allowing the twenty-one year old to train with his new teammates ahead of the weekend trip to Northampton.
Following hot on the heels of the capture of Ben Stevenson and Abo Eisa, Roberts was the third signing for the U's in less than forty-eight hours.
Loan spells at Gateshead and Kilmarnock gave him good experience of mens football, before returning to Newcastle this season.
Callum, pictured above playing in the FA Cup earlier this season, was fully involved in the Magpies' U21s Checkatrade campaign, scoring three in five games against League One and Two opposition.
Those impressive performances saw him selected for the FA Cup replay at Blackburn Rovers last month, and he was on the scoresheet as Newcastle won 4-2 after extra time.
He will spend the remainder of the season with the U's, subject to the loan deal being ratified by the relevant authorities.
