U's Come Through Tough Welsh Test

Cefn Druids beaten 3-0 in U's third friendly

13 July 2019

Colchester United have won 3-0 against Welsh Premier League side Cefn Druids

After spending the three previous days at a training camp at Carden Park, the U's made the short journey into North Wales to take on the Druids on Saturday lunchtime.

And it didn't take them long to get into their stride in the game.

With just two minutes played, new boys Jevani Brown and Paris Cowan-Hall combined, and the latter's cross was volleyed home by Andre Hassanally for the opening goal.

The U's were denied by a physical Druids side until half-time, but doubled the lead around the hour mark.

Cowan-Hall was again the instigator, whipping a lovely free-kick into the home side's danger area.

As he did on Tuesday night at Dulwich, Omar Sowunmi was attacking the ball better than his marker and he headed past the keeper for 2-0.

Two became three a few minutes from the end, when Michael Fernandes crossed and Luke Norris got across the keeper to head home and make it 3-0.

It was a satisfying end to a productive few days away from north Essex, but the U's players will be back on familiar ground on Sunday as they attend the Annual Open Day at the JobServe Community Stadium.
