Colchester United's Football in the Community team were recently invited to speak at an event in London about countering Far Right Extremism.
Over recent months, the U's community coaches have been delivering the Unite Our Communities programme - funded by the Home Office - into schools across the area.
And, after success at a local level, Community Development Manager Tom Tayler was invited to speak at a Network Partner Showcase event at County Hall in London.
Tom said: “It was fantastic for Colchester United Football in the Community to be asked to present at such a well-attended and connected network event with the Home Office and Britain Stronger Britain Together.
"Over the past few years, we have taken some big steps in providing community safety interventions and our Unite Our Communities programme is an example of this.
"The programme is based around interactive discussions and activities covering Extremism, Radicalisation, Hate Crimes & Prejudice is something which gets young people initiated in discussions they wouldn’t necessarily be having otherwise.
"We have on course to deliver this to over 7,500 young people across Essex before December 2019 and we are still keen to hear from schools and youth groups who would like us to visit them around this subject.”
