A Busy Whitsun For U's Community Scheme

Hundreds participate in holiday activities

3 June 2019

Over 800 people attended our Football in the Community courses over the Whitsun school holidays, in another great week for our community scheme.

That included 53 lucky local children who got to show off their skills at the JobServe Community Stadium in our Play On The Pitch event last Friday.

178 attended Soccer Camps operated at Shrub End Community and Sports Centre, which included visits from members of the U's first team squad.

There were fixtures against other local football sides, with 80
players participating in a Girls Development Centre two day training camp, which included against Luton and MK Dons.

And 110 players attended the Boys Development Centre two day training camp, which saw them take on Cambridge United.

A further 77 young people got involved with our come and play sessions at Shrub End, and We also took our activities beyond the community facility and the U's stadium, too.

Our FREE Food and Fun Programme was attended by 63 children in Harwich and Clacton, whilst 240 participants aged 3-12 attended FREE activities delivered at First Site gallery.

It won't be long now until our summer activities get underway, so take a look at our latest brochure to see what's taking place!
