Colchester United U23s gave Leeds a real test on Monday evening, but the visitors ran out 2-0 winners to seal the Northern Section title.
Leeds arrived knowing a win would secure top spot and looked comfortable in the first half with the majority of possession.
Backed by a vocal travelling support, they led thanks to a Ryan Edmondson goal at the break, but found the U's a different proposition in the second half, as the home side tested the Leeds goal with a string of chances.
Noah Chilvers had a shot turned wide, Callum Jones saw an effort hit the post whilst Danny Collinge was denied by a great save.
But that man Edmondson was Johnny on the spot again with ten minutes to go, as he sidefooted home his second to secure victory.
The U's have two games remaining this season, and will take great heart from their display against a strong United outfit, with youth teamers Harvey Sayer and Todd Miller enjoying good games in a test for the young U's.
