Loanee Callum Roberts has returned to Newcastle United.

The twenty one year old forward joined the U's during the January transfer window, but has been restricted to the U's substitutes' bench for his temporary stay in north Essex.

He is one of three Newcastle players to return to the North East, with Elias Sorensen and Jamie Sterry cutting short loan spells at Blackpool and Crewe Alexandra respectively.

Roberts made three appearances for the U's off the bench, but couldn't force his way into the starting line-up due to the form of the U's forward players during the past six weeks.

Colchester United thank Callum for the work he put in during his spell at the JobServe Community Stadium, and wish him all the best for the future.
