Charlton Next Up For U23s

Youngsters face Addicks in Premier League Cup

7 November 2019

Colchester United U23s face Charlton Athletic in Thursday night's Premier League Cup clash

Richard Hall watched his side beat QPR in the Development League fixture on Monday, but it will be a younger squad this time round with the first team's game against Coventry City less than forty eight hours away.

It's the second of six group stage matches on Thursday evening, with the U's gaining a point away at Reading in the first match in the competition.

Hall said of the encounter: "We'll take on Charlton with a team that is more like our regular side, with Monday's game used to give minutes to a number of first team squad players who needed time in a competitive match."

"Those lads had a great attitude on Monday, and I hope that that competitive edge they showed will rub off a bit on the younger lads that witnessed it, either first hand by being on the pitch with them, or from watching on the sidelines."

"Of course their development is still the priority, but a real will to win is now very much a part of that development and needs to be a part of their thinking now they are only one step away from being with the first team squad themselves."

U's: Vose, Hallett, Ige, Scarlet, Krabbenden, James, Weaire, Dunne, Collinge, Ager, Campbell-Ryce, Sims, Hutchinson, Fernandes, Hinds, Freitas-Gouveia.

The game will kick-off at 7pm at the JobServe Community Stadium, with prices as below:

Adults £10
Concessions £7
U18s £5
U14s £3
U11s FREE

Season ticket holders will be admitted free of charge on production of their ST Card.
