James Heads Out On Loan

Defender to spend the next month in Kent

8 November 2019

Cameron James has joined Maidstone United on loan

The twenty one year old will spend the next month at the Gallagher Stadium, playing under Hakan Hayrettin.

Hayrettin will be very familiar with the versatile youngster, having been in charge at Braintree Town during James' loan spells at the Iron.

James was an integral part of the U's first team squad during pre-season and the early part of the 2019/20 campaign itself, but the form of Tom Eastman and Luke Prosser has limited his chances in the past couple of months.

U's Director of Football Tony Humes explained that this was a big factor in getting Cameron a loan move at this time.

"It was improtant that Cameron didn't lose any match sharpness he had built up earlier in the season and he needs to be playing competitive football to maintain that sharpness.

"Maidstone have had a decent start to the season, so it will be good for Cameron to go from one positive environment to another for the next month."

James is expected to go straight into the Maidstone United squad for Saturday's FA Cup First Round tie at home against Torquay United.
