Rallying Call From Robbie

Fans urged to back the U's

A Carabao Cup Quarter-Final awaits, but there is still the matter of a decisive local derby

On Tuesday 12th November, the U's host nearest rivals Ipswich Town in the third and final group stage match.

Only a win guarantees a spot in the knock-out stages, something the U's haven't managed since the competition moved to its current format.

And Chairman Robbie Cowling has urged the U's fans to back the team like they have done in the Carabao Cup.

In the matchday programme for Saturday's game against Newport, he said:

"To say it’s a big week is an understatement. The two league games will show us where we are this season and positive results in those games will springboard us into the Crawley game, which is a chance to make history and a few quid.

"The response from the fans for the Crawley game has been phenomenal and having so many of you there will play a big part in getting the positive result we need.

"On a similar note, we have an important game coming up against Ipswich in the EFL Leasing.com Trophy and Ipswich have already sold out the North Stand and have started selling out the left-hand end of the East Stand too.

"It would be great to see a similar response from our fans to make this a stunning local derby."
