Home fixture Saturday for McGreal & co.

4 October 2019

This weekend sees Colchester United take on Stevenage in Sky Bet League Two

John McGreal's side currently sit two points and two places outside the Play-Offs, and will be looking to close that gap with a victory over Stevenage at the JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Both games last season went Boro's way, but the visitors haven't made a good start to the 2019/20 campaign.

They sit bottom of the table, and are still awaiting their first win of the season.

Early poor form saw Dino Maamria relieved of his managerial duties, and Mark Simpson has been in charge for the past four games.

Stevenage lost the first two of his tenure, but two solid draws against Forest Green and Cambridge United have instilled a bit of confidence.

And U's Head Coach McGreal isn't taking their opponents lightly ahead of the clash.

"They are full of experienced players and I'm not underestimating them at all.

"Us and Exeter have been in their position at the beginning of seasons, and it only takes a couple of wins to really jump up the table.

"They certainly have the quality in their squad to do exactly that, but we don't want it to be this weekend.

"We've had a really productive week in training, the lads are ready to go again, and we want to continue our good recent run of results.

"Fourteen points from seven matches, after our own poor start, is a great return but we've got to keep that going."
