Community Team Prepared For New Academic Year

New faces join growing team

7 September 2019

As the new academic year approaches, Colchester United's Football in the Community team have been getting themselves in shape for the busy period ahead.

After a hugely successful school holidays, Football in the Community have welcomed on board several new members of staff as they continue to grow and spread their reach across Colchester and the local area.

Speaking to the club's official website, Head of Community Corin Haines: "The organisation experienced further manageable growth throughout the 2018/19 academic year and, as we commence a new year of delivery, key appointments and preparations have been made to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of the community and our expanding programmes.

"We have an incredible workforce that have an outstanding impact on our community, these key appointments will ensure that is maximised further again. They make a genuine difference to thousands of people lives every single day – their hard work and dedication helps to ensure that we continue to grow and develop together."

Joining the community team are:-

Scarlett Hanrahan
Scarlett joins us as Sport and Education Officer. Scarlett has over a decade of experience working within a community club setting, and until recently leading a project for Arsenal Football club in Syrian Refugee Camp. This appointment provides the expanding education department with suitable resources as Rick Goldsbrough becomes our Community Performance Manager.

Chris Williams
Chris joins as our Youth Phase Development Officer having previously held a role at Barnet FC as an Elite Development coach for 16-19. A holder of his UEFA B Chris will oversee our Development Centre and Grassroots Club Development programmes.

Henry Singleton
Henry joins as our Health and Inclusion Officer having recently graduated in Football Studies and Business at Southampton Solent University and spent an extended period in USA coaching.

This appointment provides the expanding Health and Inclusion department with suitable resources as Callum Murphy becomes our Senior Health and Inclusion Officer.

Callum Hemson
Callum joins as an additional full time Community Sports Coach, Callum will work across the organisation to ensure high quality delivery specialising in learning years and KS1 development.

Laura Small
Laura Small will be joins us as Community Development Administrator, she joins with over 20 years’ experience of various administration and business development roles. Her appointment will provide comprehensive support to the organisation and programme leads.

The Community team now also have a fleet of vans, all fully sign written, so keep your eyes open and you could well see them around the town very soon!
