Premier League test For McGreal & Co.

24 September 2019

Colchester United's next match sees them take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup

The U's go into this third round tie on the back of two wins in League Two, 3-0 away at Swindon and Saturday's 2-1 home victory over Orient.

Over 5,000 supporters saw the O's defeated, but there'll be nearly double that on Tuesday night as Spurs visit the JobServe Community Stadium.

And Head Coach John McGreal is looking forward to the clash against the Champions' League finalists.

"We have kept the players' focus on the league games and they have responded fantastically well with the two wins and six points.

"It was important that we went into this game with some momentum, and we can all now look forward to it with some real confidence.

"The focus is now on how we play against a side full of top players, whoever they select to play.

"We could get bogged down with who they play, what formation they might go with but let's focus on what we do.

"I'm not niave enough to think we'll have the better percentages of possession, so we must work hard on doing our thing when we do have the ball."

"All the players want to test themselves against players at higher levels, I was the same and I'm the same now as a coach.

"We're all looking forward to a great night under the lights, with the added atmosphere that a full house will bring.

"I've been to the couple of England U21s games here that had big crowds, but this is the first U's one I've been involved in so I can't wait."
