The U's are back at the JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon after a run of three away games, taking on Morecambe in north Essex.
Following a first defeat four games, Steve Ball's side will want to get back to winning ways at home on Saturday. Falling to a slender 2-1 defeat at Cambridge in the week, the hosts leapfrogged the U's in to sixth position, while Colchester remain in the play-offs, on goal difference.
Their next match will be crucial if they are to stay in the top seven of the festive period, taking on the team directly below them in the league, as Morecambe are the visitors.
The Shrimps have hit a bit of form recently. Having started off well, they experienced a slump in performance, dropping into the bottom half of the table, but a resurgence from Derek Adams' side has seen them return almost to the play-off places.
"We have to stay positive after Tuesday, it was a disappointing night of course. But it's time now to get prepared for Saturday." - Steve Ball
"We can't wait for Saturday to be back at home. We have seen what a difference they make when they are in and I was really grateful when the announcement of the tiers came through.
"Obviously I want the away form to be better, but the home form is excellent, and Morecambe are a good side this year. They'll be really organised and be a tough nut to crack, but we are hoping we can turn them over."
Morecambe come to the U's in good form, having now won three of their last four, boosting them up the table and putting them back in contention for the play-off places.
