Silkmen visit the JCS on Saturday

17 January 2020

Colchester United take on Macclesfield Town this weekend

John McGreal and the squad will be looking to extend the unbeaten run, but will want to win after four successive draws.

They face a Macclesfield Town side under new management, with Mark Kennedy the man tasked with keeping them in League Two.

The Silkmen currently sit in twenty second place in the table, five points above bottom placed Stevenage

Kennedy will be looking to build on recent performances under caretaker Danny Whitaker, with only one defeat in the past nine matches.

And U's Head Coach John Mcgreal was looking more at that statistic than their league position when he previewed the game.

He told cu-fc.com: "Every team in this league can beat any other on any day, that has been the same ever since I got the job."

"We can't look at where they are in the table because they've had points deducted, we have to look at recent results and performances and make sure we do our preparation on them properly.

"Mark coming in will probably give their players a lift and a bit of motivation to impress as well, but we have to keep doing the good things we've done in the past twelve matches.

"The group has been positive again this week, and they all know we have to perform well to get a positive result."
