U's Flash - Theo's Back

Robinson back for remainder of season

14 January 2020

Theo Robinson has signed another loan deal at Colchester United

At the end of his initial loan, he returned to his parent club Southend United last week.

He missed the U's draw at Morecambe at the weekend whilst discussions were had between the two clubs, but he has now signed a further loan deal until the end of the season, subject to the usual ratification from the relevent bodies.

The first half of the season saw the striker score seven goals for the U's, and he is pleased to be extending his time in north Essex.

He told the official website: "I'm glad it's all sorted out and I can get on with playing football."

"I was playing plenty of football and I think I was doing ok for the club, and I always knew what I wanted to do when this time came.

"I had to go back though, and nothing is ever guaranteed, so I'm grateful that the deal got done and I'm here now for the rest of the season."

Head Coach John McGreal was also happy that the former Watford and Derby forward has returned.

"I'm delighted that he's with us now for the rest of the season.

"We know what he can do, seven goals in eleven starts proves that, and he's a really good attacking option for us.

"He's a different player to the likes of Frank Nouble and Luke Norris, and it's always advantageous to have different threats in the squad."
