Colchester United Football in the Community have welcomed back some participants.
As of Monday 6th July, Colchester United's charity arm began a phased re-opening of Shrub End Community and Sports Centre, and welcomed back to some of their participants to a Safe Return to Play.
Corin Haines, Head of Community, said of the re-opening: "Of course, things will be a little different upon our return, as we have made a number of changes and implemented a host of new procedures to ensure that we are safeguarding against risks associated with COVID-19."
"It is our utmost priority to ensure that all of our participants are able to continue their training, to socialise with their friends and team-mates, and to have fun — in a safe environment, in which we have taken every precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
"We have been overwhelmed by our participants' confidence in the systems we are implementing, which in turn will see our delivery next week reach just shy of 200 hours provision.
"Having now supported with over 300 hours, 1,000 food parcel deliveries and 250 food bank collections, we will continue to provide vital community outreach work to those most in need. We are still striving to be part of the solution."

We have also produced a short video, and a map, to illustrate the new procedures for entering and exiting Shrub End for scheduled sessions and training. Our complete Risk Assessment document can be read HERE.
