Monday Boost For U's Players

Good luck banner appears at training ground

15 June 2020

Colchester United players had a pleasant surprise when they arrived for training on Monday morning.

Over the weekend, U's fan Rosalie Lucas attached a good luck banner to the Florence Park gates, sending her best wishes to the players ahead of the Play-Off Semi-Final against Exeter City on Thursday.

We tracked her down on Monday morning and this is what she had to say about making her poster.

"I made my poster because I wanted to cheer Col U on and give them some encouragement.

"Even though I can’t go and watch them play, I wanted the players to know that I am still supporting them. I would love them to WIN THE PLAYOFFS!"

Her Mum Sarah added: "Rosalie put lots of effort into making her poster because she loves watching Col U and has missed football during ‘Lockdown’."

"She is very excited to watch them in the Play-Offs and wanted to offer them some support."

That support resonated with the players, and U's skipper Luke Prosser was pleased to see the message as he entered the training ground.

"What a fantastic way to start the week leading up to a massive couple of Play-Off semi-Final games.

"We always knew the fans were right behind us, and this message from Rosalie proves it. Thanks Rosalie, and enjoy the games – we’ll do all we can to win!"
