It has been confirmed that Colchester United will contest the League Two Play-Offs later this month.
The clubs voted on the outcome of the 2019/20 campaign on Tuesday, rubberstamping the option agreed by the League Two owners back in May.
The U's are joined by Exeter City, Cheltenham Town and Northampton Town for a place in League One next season.
John McGreal's U's squad will play Exeter, with the first leg being played here at the JobServe Community Stadium on June 18th - whilst the two 'Towns' meet in the other semi.
Play-Off dates:
Semi-Final First Leg - Thursday 18th June
Colchester United v Exeter City – 5.15pm
Northampton Town v Cheltenham Town – 7.45pm
Semi-Final Second Leg - Monday 22nd June
Exeter City v Colchester United - 5.15pm
Cheltenham Town v Northampton Town – 8.00pm
Final (Wembley Stadium)
Monday 29th June 7.30pm
All these Play-Off matches will of course be played behind closed doors due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
McGreal is looking forward to the challenge, telling the official website: "We have been preparing for these Play-Off matches for a while now, but it's great news, and a little bit of a relief, to have it all confirmed with the vote."
"Actually, we've been geared up to trying to win promotion all season, so this gives us the opportunity to fulfil that ambition we all had back in August.
"I'm gutted for the fans as they won't be able to come to the games and cheer us on as a reward for their support all season.
"I know that they'll be watching on TV though - willing us to get the positive results against Exeter that get us to the Final and then hopefully promotion."
