McGreal Supports Postponements

More reaction to match suspension period

13 March 2020

U’s Head Coach John McGreal has given his support to the EFL postponing all fixtures until at least the 3rd April.

Earlier today, the EFL announced that all professional games in England have been postponed until the start of April due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Head Coach John McGreal has given his support to the postponement of fixtures.

“People’s health is the most important thing right now”

“We have taken guidance from the experts and the government for this, as well as the FA and EFL.”

“I support postponing the fixtures, so we can get the crowds to the games when it is safe to do so.”

“Football is for the fans; it would not have been fair on them to not be able to watch their team play.”

On the effect the virus has had at the U’s Florence Park Training Ground, McGreal continued: “We have been vigilant on this with no shaking of hands and keeping our distance at the training ground, but you can’t do that on the pitch.”

“People’s health is the most important thing right now, and we need to ensure that we follow all the advice that is given.”

The club’s official website and social media channels will be updated with any news in due course.
