COVID-19 – EXTENSION OF EFL MATCH POSTPONEMENTS

Postponement of matches extended

19 March 2020

The EFL have released the following statement regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.

Following further discussion between the football authorities after their respective meetings this week, the EFL will be joining the Football Association, Premier League and PFA in making a joint statement to confirm that all domestic (and European) League and Cup matches are to be postponed until no earlier than 30 April.

For the avoidance of any doubt this includes all matches in the Championship, League One and League Two, as well as all Academy and youth team fixtures.

With the postponement extension confirmed, the EFL Board has discussed giving additional clarity to Clubs in respect of training programmes in line with the objective of ensuring the health and safety of players and staff.

While the arrangement of training programmes is ultimately a matter for individual Clubs, the EFL advises that training activities should be suspended until April 3 2020 at the earliest.
