Match Preview: Oldham Athletic

The U's line up at the JobServe Community Stadium for the second time this week

Colchester United will be hoping to make it four games unbeaten in the league this weekend as they host Oldham Athletic.

The Latics are the visitors this weekend, and Harry Kewell's side will be looking to replicate their last visit to North Essex.

In April 2019, the visitors put a significant dent in the U's play-off hopes as they came out 2-0 winners at the JCS, with both goals coming in the opening twelve minutes.

This campaign Oldham have made a poor start in the league, losing all three of their opening games, but despite their slow start, Colchester United Steve Ball not taking the opposition lightly.

"Oldham will be coming to our place desperate to get a result so we have to make sure we are ready - which we will be." - Steve Ball

"Harry (Kewell) will bring a certain style of football to Oldham. They will present threats to us, as they like to pass the ball as well as going long to Danny Rowe, but we will be more than ready for that."

It will be a case of getting the fous back to league action for the U's as well, after defeat against West Ham U21s in the week, but Ball is eager to put that result behind him.

"I want to address all of our games on their own merits, but as soon as that was done, we said it was done. We had a good look at it, made some phone calls to the lads who were involved, and we've moved on."

"All the rest of the week has been about is Oldham, we can't wait for the game on Saturday. Everyone is in a really good place, and training has been excellent."
