Colchester United U23s have been beaten for the first time this season as Suffolk neighbours take three points in the Professional Development League.
The visitors had the best chances of the opening exchanges and nearly found the opener on eleven minutes through Jack Lankester.
Keanan Bennetts squared the ball across the penalty area with Lankester's powerful drive striking the underside of the bar, with Ryan Clampin able to clear for the U's.
And Ipswich went close once again in the opening twenty minutes, when Liam Gibbs raced clear of the U's defence with only Callum Coulter to beat. The home 'keeper made himself big and blocked the goalbound shot.
With half an hour played, the visitors did break the deadlock and take the lead. Keanan Bennetts slid in at the far post to convert from Simpson's cross and give his side the advantage.
U's 'keeper Coulter had to be alert again before half time, as Lankester sprinted free. Coulter got down well to prevent the Ipswich winger from doubling his side's advantage in the first forty-five.
The U's were unlucky not to be back on level terms twenty minutes into the second half, when Trialist's strike bounced off the base of the post. The follow up from Tchamadeu was collected by White as the U's pressed for an equaliser.
White was called into action more and more as the game went on. He denied trialist with a save down low to his right following a poor clearance, and then made a fine save at the near post with Trialist's shot heading for the top corner.
But with time running out, the lead was doubled by the visitors when Albie Armin headed in from a corner in the eighty-ninth minute.
The 0-2 defeat for the U's youngsters was their first of the season.
