Walsall Preview

Steve Ball's side travel to the Banks's Stadium in League Two clash

9 October 2020

Colchester United will be travelling to Walsall hoping they can make it five games without defeat at the start of their 2020/21 Sky Bet League Two campaign.

Walsall are the opponents for Steve Ball's side this weekend, a side who have also enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season.

The Saddlers are currently thirteenth in the league, having played a game less than most sides due to their fixture against Leyton Orient being postponed a couple of weeks ago.

Colchester United will want to get back to winning ways after two straight draws in the league, including last weekend's 3-3 game against Oldham.

And U's Head Coach Steve Ball wants to learn from last week's result and push on to Walsall.

"There was disappointment certainly from last weekend - we looked back on it on Monday to see the areas where we could have sealed the win." - Steve Ball

"But this week's training has been good, and there were a lot of positives to take from the first half. Our movement, our patterns, and our goals - that's all parts of it that we want to keep going now."

Walsall are another team in Sky Bet League Two, like the U's, that are yet to taste defeat in the league season.

Darrell Clarke's men have picked up a win and two draws in their first three games this season, and Steve Ball will not be taking their challenge lightly.

"Walsall are a strong team - unbeaten in eight games stretching back to last season. I know they've got a lot of draws in that, but it does show a real resilience in their play."

"They went to Forest Green last weekend, and the stats will tell you that they got absolutely dominated, but in my opinion they did well defensively."

Walsall will also be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the season, as they welcome the U's to the Banks's Stadium.
