Paul Tisdale joins Colchester United for the remainder of the season.
Tisdale has agreed to join Colchester United in an advisory role for the remaining eight games of the season.
Hayden Mullins took over as Head Coach from Wayne Brown earlier this week, with the club announcing that an experienced head at this level would also be recruited.
Tisdale certainly fits that bill, with U's Chairman Robbie Cowling saying: "The focus of the job will be to provide advice and assistance to a talented but relatively inexperienced management team, as well as acting as a sounding board for all football and performance matters throughout the club."
"Paul has immense experience of league football, particularly with Exeter City where he led the team from The Conference to League One with back-to-back promotions.
"He left Exeter in 2018 as English football’s longest-serving manager. Working closely with Hayden, we feel utilising Paul’s vast experience will give us the best possible chance of staying in League Two."
Hayden Mullins said of the appointment: "I’m delighted the club have enlisted Paul to come in and join us. He’s got over 700 league games under his belt and I’m sure he’ll be a fantastic support for myself and the rest of the coaching staff for the remainder of the season."
Paul himself added: "I’m excited for the challenge ahead, we have eight vital games remaining and I will be doing my utmost to help Hayden and the coaching staff develop clear and deliverable match strategies from now until the end of the season."
