Hayden Mullins has overseen two draws in his first two games in charge of Colchester United, with the goalless stalemate against Bolton on Good Friday, followed by the 1-1 draw at home to Barrow on Easter Monday.
Friday night's visit to Boundary Park will be United's first since August 2019, when Frank Nouble's first half effort sealed the three points. Earlier this season, Colchester United played out a 3-3 draw against the Latics at the JobServe Community Stadium, with an eighty-ninth minute equaliser from Conor McAleny.
The U's will be looking to get a valuable three points at Boundary Park, getting a head start on the weekend's fixtures by playing the evening before the rest of the games in Sky Bet League Two.
